JOWAI: The FKJGP has demanded immediate appointment of a food inspector in Jaintia Hills district.

The post has been lying vacant since 2004.

Interestingly, the MPSC had advertised for the said post way back in 2007 and no one has been appointed so far.

‘The FKJGP had on several occasions written to the concerned department demanding to appoint fullfledged food inspector in the district but nothing has been done so far,” the president of the FKJGP unit, Tuesday Lytep said.

One food Inspector is now doing duties for both East Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills districts.

The FKJGP even threatened to take its own course of action if the government failed to appoint food Inspector in within a short period of time.

Vehicle stolen : A vehicle (Tata Sumo ML04A-7692) was stolen from a residence at Khim-u-sniang, Jowai on Tuesday night.

Sources informed the vehicle, owned by one Fullmoon Sutnga, was given on lease to the KEC International — a company engaged in electricity tower construction in the district.

A complaint has been lodged with Jowai Police in this connection.
