Attack on security forces convoy in Pak kills 5 soldiers

Islamabad: Five security personnel were killed and six more injured when a security forces convoy was targeted with a roadside bomb in Balochistan province of southwest Pakistan today, officials said.

The explosive device was triggered by remote control when the convoy was passing through Mand Ballo area of Turbat district. Five security personnel were killed instantly, the officials said.

The injured personnel were given medical aid in Turbat before being shifted to Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. Doctors described the condition of two of the injured as very critical.

Security forces launched a search operation in Mand Ballo area, which is located near the border with Iran border. Some persons were taken into custody on suspicion of being involved in the bombing. No group claimed responsibility for the attack. (PTI)

Woman, her two kids set afire in for dowry

Dhaka: A woman was badly burnt and her two children, aged three and five, were killed when their home was set on fire in a Bangladesh village over dowry.
The incident took place at village Piargaon in Sunamganj district.
Ria Akter, 3, and her brother Imon Ahmed, 5, died while their mother Sabiha Begum, who sustained 100 percent burns, was hospitalised, New Age reported.
Sabiha’s relatives claimed that her husband’s family members had set fire to their house as her father refused to pay dowry.
Sabiha’s brother Jahidul Islam told reporters that Sabiha’s husband Nuruddin Ahmed had been demanding Tk 3 lakh for the last few months.
“Nuruddin’s brother Shafiq, his sister Nasima and father Astor Ali entered the room of Sabiha and her children while they were asleep and set fire to them after pouring kerosene,” Jahidul was quoted as saying. (IANS)
