Loungani & Co deny charges by Shillong Club MC
Shillong: HK Loungani of HK Loungani & Co. — which is managing the residential portion of The Shillong Club Ltd. has denied all allegations made by the present management of The Shillong Club Ltd that the company has violated the Deed of Tenancy Agreement (DTA).
This daily recently published a report based on documents alleging breach of contract by HK Loungani & Co. Loungani has now clarified that the report is false, baseless and motivated and the statements made by Suresh Singh, Managing Director, The Shillong Club Ltd was aimed at defaming his name, reputation and goodwill in the eyes of the public.
In his clarification letter, Loungani said the dispute, if any, between him and the Managing Committee of the Club should be redressed before a proper forum and in a civilised manner and as such, the comments made by Singh merit no comments.
“The dispute, if any, will follow its natural course. However, I do feel that it is highly irresponsible of Suresh Singh to suggest that the DTA dated January 18, 2008 executed by the erstwhile secretary in non-est or invalid. Suresh Singh even in his capacity as a MD of the club possesses no authority to make such a statement which should be left to the domain of a court of law,” said Loungani in his letter.
Loungani further alleged that the allegations made by Singh was in his personal capacity and is motivated by certain members of the Club who have vested interest in the affairs of the residential section of the club.
“Since I was assured that dispute would be resolved in an amicable manner, I have written to the MD vide letter dated June 6, 2011 requesting a clarification of their stand in the matter and a reply is still awaited. This being the position, it was premature and childish of Singh’s party to cry foul in public and it is unexpected of a member of a reputed and privileged club like The Shillong Club,” Loungani observed, adding Singh’s remarks are malicious and aimed at tarnishing his public image.
Reiterating that he has not violated any of the conditions of the DTA or that he is a defaulter in any manner, Loungani said Suresh Singh is making these to gain publicity. “While I have nothing personal against Singh, I only wish he would allow this issue to be resolved in a dignified manner. The Club’s image as we know has been affected in the past couple of years and I appeal to Singh to protect its image,” he said.
Loungani rued that his views were not taken before the story was published However, it may be mentioned here that this reporter went thrice to meet Loungani at his office at The Shillong Club Ltd. (Residential Quarters) but his employees informed that he was not in the office and they did not know when he would be available as his timings were not fixed.
