Man gets lifer in murder case

Begusarai: A court in Bihar’s Begusarai district on Friday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife for dowry four years ago. Additional session judge V Narayan Prasad Singh passed the order sentencing the accused Bolbam Mahto to lifer after finding him guilty in the murder case. According to prosecution, Mahto had burnt to death his wife Kiran on August 1, 2007 at his house in Ayodhyabari village after her family failed to meet his dowry demands. The victim’s father Chandrachud Mahto had lodged a FIR against his son-in-law charging him with murdering his daughter for dowry. Mahto was subsequently arrested and sent to jail. (PTI)
