SHILLONG:An instructor of the Meghalaya Taekwondo Association, Dinesh Sanasam on Friday strongly criticized the State Government for allegedly failing to complete the construction of the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex till date.

“It is shocking after so many years the construction of the sports complex is yet to be completed,” Sanasam said.

Sanasam said though the complex looks in good condition when viewed from the front, the condition at the back is pathetic.

“The place is no better than a dumping ground,” MTA instructor added.

He also referred to the fitness training centre which was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Sports and Youth Affairs Bindo M Lanong adding that it is useless to have the fitness training centre if athletes are not allowed to use the facilities.

Being a sportsman one cannot be a mute spectator to such apathy he added.

The instructor questioned if the Government does allocate funds for renovation of the rooms.

“If funds are being allocated then where do they go ” Sanasam questioned.
