Seven killed in Bangla accident

Dhaka: At least seven lorry workers were killed and six others injured on Saturday when the truck they were travelling in fell into a rain-fed ditch near the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka.

The accident occurred in the suburban Narayanganj area, 20 kilometres from the capital, police said.

“The truck carrying iron angels of a cell phone company plunged into a monsoon rain-fed ditch killing instantly the seven lorry workers who were travelling in it,” according to local media.

The accident left six others, including the truck driver, critically injured who were being treated at a local hospital. (PTI)

Beijing: Forty-two kindergarteners in China’s Zhejiang province fell sick in a suspected food poisoning case, Xinhua reported Friday.

They began to vomit and complained of abdominal pain around 1.30 p.m., officials of the Xiaoshan district committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said.

The children were rushed to local hospitals. “From the children’s symptoms, we believe it is probably a case of food poisoning,” said Shao Jiwei, vice president of Xiaoshan No. 2 People’s Hospital. (IANS)
