Shillong: Shree Marwari Panchayat (SMP), Shillong alongwith Dorbar Dong Demseiniong, Shillong organised a free medical camp at Dorbar Dong Demseiniong, Dorbar-cum- Community hall, near NEEPCO office, here, on Saturday.
All total 635 patients were examined.
Inaugurating the camp, Deputy Chief Minister Bindo M. Lanong appreciated the efforts of the organisers of the camp and said “such camps are required at different intervals at different villages.”
Lanong further said such camps were needed for the BPL families of every locality, as these families could not afford to go to hospitals or nursing homes. Lanong also observed that the NEIGRIHMS being so close to the area still people thronged to this free medical camp.
The doctors, nurses and technical staff who helped in organising this medical camp were all felicitated during the function.
Rajoo Sharma, managing editor of The Northeast Today, was also felicitated by Dorbar Dong Demseiniong and SMP for his contributions to the society.
The Deputy Director of NEIGRIHMS Deputy Director Dinesh Sawkmie attended the programme, chaired by Omprakash Agarwala, as special guest.
Earlier, the gathering was welcomed by assistant Demseiniong rangbah dong Edmund Kurbah.
Others who spoke on the occasion include advisor Dorbar Dong Demseiniong R. Mawroh, Rangbah Dong Demseiniong A Blah, SMP president GL Sharma, Chairman-cum-Rangbah Shnong Laitumkhrah SB Nongdhar.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Demseiniong Seng Longkmie president Sabrina Nongkynrih.
