Edinburgh: The one-day international between Ireland and Sri Lanka was abandoned without a ball being bowled Monday after rain meant no play was possible at the Grange.

The match is part of a tri-nations tournament also involving Scotland, who are due to play Ireland at the same venue on Tuesday before facing Sri Lanka there on Wednesday.

World Cup finalists Sri Lanka suffered a 16-run defeat in the hands of hosts England at Old Trafford on Saturday as they lost a five-match one-day series 3-2. This despite leading the series 2-1 initially.

Sri Lanka had gone down 1-0 in the preceding three-match Test campaign.

The one-day matches in Scotland mark the end of Sri Lanka’s tour of Britain. (Agencies)
