Cops hurt as branch falls

GUWAHATI:Three people were injured, one of them critically, when a tree branch fell over them in front of the state secretariat at Dispur on Thursday morning.Of those injured, two–a policeman and a magistrate–sustained minor injuries and were administered first aid.The incident occurred when the police personnel were seated in a temporary camp set up in front of the secretariat to supervise agitators staging demonstrations in the area during the ongoing Assembly session.A branch from an overhead tree snapped and fell on the camp, in which a police official, Ananta Dev Das, was seriously injured.He was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital and is currently admitted in ICU.A fracture has been detected in his skull and his condition remained critical.
