The Non-Teaching Staff Association of NEHU recently elected new members to the Staff Council of the association who took over the charge of the association on July 11. The term of the new staff council will be for a period of two years.

Namghar meet

The annual general meeting of Laban Assamese Namghar will be held on July 31 at 3pm on the Namghar premises.

Legal awareness

The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority will organise a one-day legal awareness programme for the Heads of traditional institutions (Syiems, Sirdars, Dollois, etc) at U Soso Tham Auditorium on July 20 from 10am onwards. Governor RS Mooshahary will inaugurate the programme.

SMB vehicles

The Chief Executive Officer of Shillong Municipal Board has informed that the SMB vehicles have been plying throughout the nook and corner of the localities at regular interval. It is required to all residents of localities under SMB to dump the garbage into the SMB vehicles to ensure cleanliness in the town.

Tirot Sing

The Dorbar Syiem Hima Nongkhlaw will observe the 176th death anniversary of a martyr, U Tirot Sing Syiemlieh at Madan Mot Tirot Mairang at 10am onwards on July 18. Rajya Sabha member Thomas Sangma will attend the function as the chief guest besides the local MLA and MDC.

Behdeinkhlam

The Sein Raij Tuber will celebrate the annual Behdeinkhlam festival-2011 from 11.30am onwards at Tuber Kmaishnong, Jaintia Hills on July 24 at Biar. Union Minister of State for Water Resources and Minority Affairs Vincent Pala will attend the function.

Registration

The SP, East Khasi Hills district has informed that as per the recommendations of the Supreme Court , the private lodges or hostels outside the campus of any educational institutions must be registered with the local police authorities latest by July 31. Permission to start such hostels must be issued by the heads of educational institutions.

New body

The Seng Samla Seng Khihlang has elected new office bearers for the year 2011-2013. They are Kyrshan Rynjah (president), Promeeyo Khongjirem, Repleaseme Phalangki and Iolina Kharumni ( all vice-president), Shiningstar Khongthohrem (general secretary), Standbyme Sari, Tyllilang Myrthong and Badalin Nongbet (all joint secretary), Lamphrang Ryntathiang (publicity secretary), Jerry Lyngdoh Nonglait (organising secretary) and Rangshap Kurbah (treasurer).
