KOHIMA:The NPCC has dismissed state Home Minister Imkong L Imchen’s statement that the Centre has imposed the Disturbed Area Act (DAA) in Nagaland and pointed out that the DAA could not be extended without a nod from the state cabinet.
The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee(NPCC) media cell in a statement said the party demanded the home minister to make public the letter of the state government to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs opposing the extension of the Disturbed Area Act (DAA) in the entire state.
”Every time he fails to find an answer to the queries of the NPCC.
The Home Minister has been in the habit of saying that the Congress in Nagaland doesn’t understand the problem and is only trying to mislead the public,” he pointed out.
The statement said, ”It appears that, having found the reports of the state government misleading, the Central Government has extended the DAA on the report of independent central agencies,” the NPCC claimed, adding the state government could not convince the Centre with invalid reason(s).
Stating that the state home minister could not term the extension as an imposition, the NPCC said the Naga People Front (NPF)-led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Government is responsible for the extension of DAA in the entire state as the DAN Government has created a disturbed situation wherein the extension of DAA was necessitated.
