HANM  alleges irregular supply of rice

From Our correspondent

NONGSTOIN: Irregular supply of rice has affected the implementation of the mid-day meal scheme, a Central Government-sponsored scheme for students of primary schools, in West Khasi Hills district.

Even the Deputy Commissioner’s recent order in this regard has fallen on deaf ears.

During a study conducted by the Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM), it is found out that irregular supply of rice has created the situation.

The HANM also questioned why supply of rice was inadequate in the district?

The vice-president of HANM (West Khasi Hills Zone) W Sohshang told newsmen on Monday that the supply of rice to schools in the district had been irregular for the last two to three months.

Some school officials admitted that only a kilo of rice was received weekly.
