Tripura journalists protest

AGARTALA:Mediapersons in Tripura, under the banner of the Assembly of Journalists, on Tuesday organised a sit-in agitation in all the sub-divisional towns, including the state capital, to protest against police atrocities on journalists on July 10 here in which eleven journalists were seriously injured. Pranab Sarkar, convener of the Assembly of Journalists, said they would intensify their movement to press for their demand of suspension of Superintendent of Police (West), Aneesh Prasad, officer-in-charge of East Agartala police station, Narayan Saha, and officer-in-charge of College Tilla police outpost, Jahangir Hossain. A candlelight procession will also be organised on July 23 as part of the phased agitation to demand security for reporters working in Tripura. Eleven journalists were injured on July 10. (PTI)
