GUWAHATI:After announcing unilateral ceasefire, the ULFA’s protalk faction has now started work on building its designated camps across the state to accommodate its cadres.

The work for the first designated camp has commenced at Baniakuchi in Tihu in lower Assam’s Nalbari district.

The camp will be set up on 50 bighas of government land and bridges and roads leading to the area are also being repaired.

ULFA ‘foreign secretary’ Sashadhar Choudhury, who is a Nalbari native and among the pro-talks leaders, said in an interview to a local channel that nine such camps will be set up.

“These camps will be christened ‘Assam Naba Nirman’ and all our cadres will stay here,” he said.

Mr Choudhury added that the cadres will be engaged in socio-economic activities in these camps in keeping with society around them. (UNI)
