NEW DELHI: MPCC president Friday Lyngdoh, who met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday night, will meet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Thursday to discuss various matters relating to the State.

The MPCC chief will be accompanied by State ministers HDR Lyngdoh and AL Hek during the meeting.

The much-sought-after appointment with the Prime Minister has been fixed for the afternoon, Lyngdoh told The Shillong Times.

“Essentially, it will be a courtesy call, but we will take up various issues of the State,” he said while declining to give any details. HDR Lyngdoh is also trying for an appointment with the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram during his stay here.

Sonia assurance: The MPCC president said UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi assured him during their meeting on Tuesday of intervening in the NEIGRIHMS issue.

Friday was told that very soon directives would be issued to fill up the posts lying vacant in the super specialty hospital for a long time. The next selection process will start very soon, she said.

Friday is also seeking an appointment with the Union Minister for Health & Family welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad who was to visit the crisis-ridden institute soon.

Most of the faculty working in NEIGRIHMS are working in an ad-hoc manner and some of them are leaving the Institute because of the prevailing uncertainty in the recruitment process.

The MPCC president earlier said he would knock Madam’s door on the issue.

“The NEIGRIHMS should be able to fulfill people’s aspiration that they would get high quality health care services on part with CMC, Vellore and Apollo Hospital, Chennai at the super specialty hospital,” he said.
