Teachers threaten to move Sibal

By Our Reporter

Shillong: Irked by irregular disbursement of salary, the teachers of the deficit schools of the State have threatened move Union Human Resources Development Minister Kapil Sibal.

The teachers under the banner of Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers’ Association (KJDSTA) and Garo Hills Deficit School Teachers and Employee’s Association (GHDSTEA) have threatened to lodge a complaint before Sibal regarding irregular disbursement of salary and other malfunctioning in the education system in the state.

“We have no other option but to go to Delhi as the State Education Minister is not taking our demands seriously,” said the Joint Secretary Kular Khongjirem here on Wednesday.

He, however, made it clear that before moving to Union HRD Minister they would first take up the matter with the State Education Minister Dr RC Laloo.

The associations expressed disappointment over sudden cancellation of the meeting between a delegation of teachers’ bodies and Dr Laloo scheduled to be held on July 22.
