New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh is likely to be interrogated over the 2008 cash-for-votes controversy in Parliament after the Upper House chairman on Wednesday gave Delhi Police the permission to do so, officials said.
Singh’s former aide, Sanjeev Saxena, arrested by Delhi Police, had alleged that the then Samajwadi Party leader had provided Rs.1 crore for buying the support of three BJP MPs in a trust vote in 2008.
Rajya Sabha chairman Hamid Ansari gave the nod for questioning Amar Singh after the home ministry sought his opinion, sources in the Rajya Sabha secretariat said.
Delhi Police had written to the Home Ministry to sanction permission for his questioning. (IANS)
