Bangalore: Five senior Indian hockey players including former captain Arjun Halappa were today barred from the ongoing camp at Sports Authority of India Sourthn Centre on the outskirts of the city.

The players are Arjun Halappa, Adrian D’Souza, Sandeep Singh, Sardar Singh and Prabhjot Singh. They had left the national hockey camp for Mumbai to attend the press conference of World Special Hockey (WSH) series of IHF without permission and it amounted to indiscipline.

The five who arrived last night were permitted to stay in the hostel, but they were denied entry into the camp till permission was from Hockey India (HI) which was informed about their absence without permission.

Coach incharge S S Grewal had made it clear that ”since the boys went without permission for Mumbai for the WSH media conference on Thursday without permission, they would be kept out of practice sessions until Hockey India conveyed its stand on the matter.”

The players declined to speak to the media on the issue. (UNI)
