Two children drown

RANGIYA/TEZPUR: Two children were drowned and a mini bus passenger killed while eight other injured in two separate incidents in Assam on Saturday. Seven-year-old Bhabana Das and five-year-old Riya Das were drowned in a pond when they were bathing at village Barkuriha under Baihata police station of Kamrup (Rural) district, police sources said. Bhabana is a student of class one and Riya of pre primary class, the sources said. The bodies had been recovered and sent for post mortem, the sources added. In Sonitpur district, a passenger of a min bus was killed on the spot and eight others, including three seriously injured when their vehicle hit an army vehicle at Kawoimari. The sources said the three seriously hurt were sent to Gauhati Medical College Hospital and the five others admitted to Tezpur Civil Hospital. (PTI)
