London: India’s batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar did not take to the field at the start of play on the fourth day of the first cricket Test against England at Lord’s owing to a viral infection.

Tendulkar was ‘under medical supervision’ but took to the field later in the day. He was seen arriving at the stadium from the team hotel after the lunch session.

His illness is another worry for India as the vistors are already playing one bowler short in the match with Zaheer Khan straining his hamstring in the first day.

Tendulkar, in fact batted with fever in India’s first innings and immediately left for the team hotel after he was out for 34.

Tendulkar failed to live up to the hype of scoring his 100th century at Lord’s. (IANS)
