‘Declare Mawshynrut as subdivision’

 NONGSTOIN: The Hynnie-wtrep National Youth Front’s (HNYF), Nongstoin circle, has urged the State government to declare Mawshynrut as subdivision.

Earlier, the Mawshynrut Civil Sub-division Demand Committee (MCSDC) had put forward the same demand before the government.

Justifying its demand, the HNYF unit’s president K. John Robert Marwein told newsmen that Mawshynrut area has a population of 55.251 as per an official record.

The NGO members will Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma in this connection, he said adding that the government should fulfill the demands submitted by the MCSDC.

“If the government fails to do so, we will have no other option but to take agitational path,” he added.

Meeting: The Megha-laya Adhoc Grant Primary Schools Association, Meghalaya, will hold a meeting on July 30 at the Community Hall, Riatsamthiah, Shillong.

RS Khardewaw, general secretary of MAGPSA, said the government has failed to fulfill several demands of the association.

Demand: The Rambrai Jyrngam Development Council, a newly-formed organization headed by BR Thabah, has demanded creation of Rambrai C& RD Block.

K.P.Pangniang, local MDC and advisor to the Council, told media here on Saturday the demand has been put forward for all round developmental of the people residing in Rambrai Jyrngam area, which consist of 35 villages.

He also told that the council would also demand early implementation of a road project from Nongstoin via Rambrai to Khyrshai.

“The road project, which was announced by DD Lapang during his chief ministership was sanctioned under the Special Accelerated Road Development Programme (SARDP) of Ministry of Transport, Government of India,” he said.

Pangniang said that about 25 kms of road connecting Chaygaon (Assam) with Umkiam has been undertaken by the Assam Government and added that the Assam government is likely to extend construction upto Khyrsai.
