Guwahati: After making the state government uneasy by demonstrating with thousands of agitators over various issues, award winning RTI activist and KMSS general secretary Akhil Gogoi on Monday sat in a demonstration against hike in power tariffs with only three others.

Gogoi and three others sat in a demonstration in front of the Bijulee Bhawan in the city demanding rollback of the recently announced hike of 56 paise per unit in electricity.

”We want the government to rollback the hike and we will continue the protest until the government aggresses,” the RTI activists, under the banner of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), said.

To a query on just four demonstrators, the young activist said it was to ensure that the KMSS is not again held responsible for any untoward incident that might occur in a bigger gathering.

”Moreover, we do not want to violate prohibitory orders clamped in the district preventing assembly of five or more persons,” Gogoi added. (UNI)
