London: The prospect of England winning the Test series against India and becoming world number one side has led to huge rush for tickets for the remaining three matches, according to a report.

Following England’s victory at Lord’s yesterday there has been a rush to buy tickets for Trent Bridge and Edgbaston, the venues for the second and third Tests, a report in the ‘Guardian’ said.

“There is a handful of tickets available at 40 pounds for (the first day), just two for Saturday – for 60 pound – and most are still on offer for Monday, which also gets you in on the Tuesday, for 30 to 40 pounds,” the report said quoting a salesperson at the Trent Bridge, where England will bid to go 2-0 up when the second Test starts on Friday.

For the Edgbaston Test which starts on August 10, fourth day is sold out, third day is “nearly sold out”, and on the opening day and second day there is limited availability, with the box office advising: “book as soon as possible.” According to the report, the opening three days of the final Test at The Oval have virtually sold out.

Visitors to The Oval’s website currently have to wait around 10 minutes for the ticketing page to load before discovering seat availability for the Test which starts there on August 18, it said. (PTI)
