Guwahati: The ULFA is almost ready with its charter of demands that will be placed before the Centre soon after the commencement of the formal peace talks.
”The charter of demands is almost ready and it will be finalised within a couple of days,” the outfit’s ‘finance secretary’ Chitrabon Hazarika told reporters at Kakopathar designated camp in Tinsukia on Wednesday.
He added that a few finishing touches are left and it would be completed before the charter of demands is handed over to the Centre.
”We will submit the charter of demands to the Centre soon,” Hazarika said.
Centre-appointed peace interlocutor PC Haldar had yesterday indicated that peace talks with the banned outfit will formally start within this month.
The ULFA pro-talks faction, led by its ‘chairman’ Arabinda Rajkhowa, had met the Prime Minister and the Union Home minister in New Delhi in February.
The pro-talks leaders, including Rajkhowa and Hazarika, are out of jail on bail to facilitate the peace parleys. (UNI)
