Shillong: A teenaged girl, Denarose Hat (15) of Jareivasai Hima Jirang, 10 km away from Iew Rani, was allegedly kidnapped by a daily wage earner recently.

Uncle of the victim, G Hat, said the worker at a sawmill, a non-tribal, had lured the girl asking her to go for shopping and kidnapped her on July 25.

He alleged that a day after the kidnapping, the girl called up her parents and said she was taken to an unknown place.

When the family members of the girl went to lodge an FIR at Patharkhmah Police Outpost, the Officer In-Charge allegedly refused to accept it on the plea the case does not fall under the jurisdiction of the outpost and directed them to approach the Khanapara Police Outpost in Assam since Iew Rani falls in the neighbouring State. However, the Assam police too rejected the FIR.
