Teachers to pay more attention to poor performing students

Agartala: The Tripura Government has made it mandatory to pay special attention to less meritorious students for elementary level teachers in both government and non-government schools under Right to Education Act.

Principal Secretary of Education Banamali Sinha said the state government had framed rules under REA which stressed upon continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) over a year to ensure quality education besides generating adequate interest among the students.

”Taking the sprit of REA, we have prepared the academic calendar, which ensures 255 days classes in a year and the teachers are responsible for holding additional classes for the poor learning students and if necessary they have to go to the students’ house,” Sinha said.

Teachers have also been asked to participate in regular meetings with guardians, Sinha added. (UNI)
