Tripura man envoy to Seychelles
AGARTALA:The remote Saikar hamlet under Kamalpur sub-division of Dhalai district in north Tripura has celebrated the distinguished assignment of Thanglura Darlong as Indian High Commission (IHC) to Seychelles.Thanglura is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of 1988. He hails from a poor Jhumia family (Shifting cultivator) from one of the backward tribal village of the state.He had his primary education in Bamun Cherra village and passed higher secondary from Arundhuti Nagar High Secondary School and finally shifted to Delhi during eighties.Thanglura had been posted to Indian embassy to Japan, Vietnam and Bhutan as second and first secretary over past two decades.(UNI)

IMPHAL:Troops of 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South)’ has apprehended one People’s Liberation Army (PLA) cadre.He was identified as SS Pvt Mutum Dilip Kumar.He was handed over to the Yairipok Police Station. (UNI)
Two washed away
TEZPUR(Assam): Two persons, including a child, were washed away in flood waters in lower Assam’s Sonitpur district where the rising Brahmaputra and its tributaries were causing heavy erosion in Tezpur area. A farmer Bulu Patangia (62) along with his cattle was washed away by the flood waters of Brahmaputra at Dah-Parbatia Sauchuburi near here on Wednesday, police said on Friday. A six-year old boy, Dildar Hussain, of Koroyani village near Sootea was also washed away by the flood waters of Brahmaputra’s major tributary, Jiabharali recently, they said. Meanwhile, the rising Brahmaputra and its tributaries Jiabharali Belsiri, Gabharu and Depota have caused erosion in the Tezpur area. (PTI)
One dies of food poisoning
GUWAHATI: A teenaged girl died and over 50 others were taken ill in a food poisoning case in Rajgarh area of eastern Assam’s Dibrugarh district.Reports from Dibrugarh said on Friday that the victims fell sick after consuming ‘prasad’ distributed at a function in the localityon Thursday night.The sick people were first admitted to the local hospital. But as their condition deteriorated, about 25 people were shifted to the Assam Medical College and Hospital at Dibrugarh town.(UNI)
