New York: Roman Polanski’s latest drama Carnage starring Kate Winslet and Jodie Foster will open the New York Film Festival.
Polanski won’t attend the opening night gala on September 30 as he is a fugitive in the US after fleeing sentencing following a 1977 conviction for unlawful sex with a minor, the Deadline reported.
Starring John C Reilly, Foster, Winslet and Christoph Waltz, the film is an adaptation of Yasmina Reza’s Tony Award-winning 2009 play ‘God of Carnage’.
The story revolves around two Brooklyn couples who meet one evening because their kids were involved in a playground fight.
Said Ben Said produced the film, which Sony Pictures Classics will release. Polanski has a long relationship with the festival. His ‘From Knife in the Water’ was screened at the first edition of NYFF in 1963. (PTI)
