Los Angeles: Actress Angelina Jolie has been conferred with a special honour at a Bosnian film festival for her cinematic and philanthropic works.

Jolie, 36, received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo award at the closing ceremony of the Sarajevo Film Festival in Bosnia.

The actress’ directorial debut, The Land of Blood and Honey, has been shot in Bosnia.

“I love this country. I was honoured to have a chance to meet everybody. This movie was a chance to bring attention to the situation that happened so long ago, and I hope that it brings attention and more dialogue to remind people what everybody here went through,” said Jolie.

According to an insider, Jolie was moved “almost to tears” by the crowd’s non-stop applause. Festival director Mirsad Purivatra praised her for her cinematic achievements and also for her global humanitarian efforts, reports usmagazine.com. (IANS)
