Journalists elect new committee

 New Delhi: The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) held its National Executive Committee (NEC) meet here recently attended by representatives from 14 States including Meghalaya and Assam .

In the meeting at the Press Club of India the newly elected President S N Sinha of Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) and Secretary-General Devulapalli Amar of Andhra Prdesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) took over charge as President and Secretary General of IJU respectively.

The National Executive Committee also decided to limit the post of office bearers to two terms and rotate among different regions of the country including smaller states of northeast.

Waltan Lytan of Meghalaya Journalist Union and Bedrabrata Lahakar and Geertath Pathak of Assam Journalists Union, participated in the meet along with all state units of IJU. They demanded that in the next term top office bearers should be elected form the north eastern region.

The meeting passed several resolutions for benefit of journalists.
