KHEDA: Gujarat Police have seized as many as 31 detonators from a man at Nadiad here, the Kheda district headquarters, ahead of this year’s Independence Day function which would be attended by Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi. Bhavesh Patel, who was carrying the detonators in a bag, was arrested from near Kamla Crossroad following a tip-off, they said. The arrest is significant as the state-level Independence Day function — where the chief minister hoists the flag — is to be held in Nadiad this year. Already, the police and the government machinery in the district have been put on alert following last week’s anonymous letter which threatened to blow up the famous Krishna temple in Dakore on August 15. Police said security had been tightened and additional personnel had been deployed at the sensitive places including the Dakore temple, which witnesses huge inflow of pilgrims in the Hindu month of ‘Shravan’.
