Mc.Enbok Khyllep (L) in action

SHILLONG: Mc.Enbok Khyllep of Meghalaya won 6 points in the Under 7 category in the National Chess Championship held at Pune earlier this month.

Six year old Mc.Enbok Khyllep was only 3 points behind the event champion, who sored nine points.

Mc.Enbok’s father claimed that he ( Mc.Enbok) was the first FIDE-rated player from north east.

While thanking the Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Meghalaya Chess Association for giving Mc.Enbok the opportunity to represent Meghalaya, Mc.Enbok’s father said ” My son could not win the championship because he has no coach or trainer who could help him upgrade his skills unlike young lads from other states who get better facilities.”

He also thanked Bindo M.Lanong who is the Sport Minister and the Pay For Right Youth and Cultural Club Malki for giving their helping hand to Mc.Enbok Khyllep.
