Kohima: To check rampant encroachments along the highways in Nagaland, the state government has decided to strictly enforce the rules and regulations.

Commissioner and Secretary, Works and Housing, Temjen Toy, issued a notification today in exercise of the power conferred by Sub Section (1) of Section 21 of the Nagaland Highways Act, 1967, which reiterated that no person sans prior written permission from the Highway Authority would construct or re-erect any structure, build approach or link roads without any prior conset from the highway authority. The Highway Act also prohibits lowering, raising, digging or filling up and dumping of earth and garbage and has provisions to punish and penalize the violators, the notification said. (PTI)
