 SHILLONG: Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, DD Lapang has underlined the need to keep up with changing lifestyle keeping alive one’s identity.

“Change is good and advisable but keeping one’s identity is very important”, he said.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the month long 37th Cultural Competition conducted by the Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Center here on Friday, Lapang highlighted on the key to success saying that in today’s competitive world one must work hard to achieve their target in life, he said

Lapang also spoke on Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy of unity. He also lauded the efforts of the Mission in serving the state for a better tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Secretary WMS Pariat urged the young minds to inculcate the teachings of Vivekananda by allowing others to strive for great things and eventually success would be theirs. “This Mission has done a great job by organizing various competitions for the young students, he added.

Altogether, 3742 students enrolled for the competitions whereas only 2078 from 42 schools and colleges took part in various competitions which started July 2 till July 31.

227 won prizes with 37 students bagging the first prize, 42 won the second prize, 38 won the third prize and 108 won the special encouragement prize besides six different trophies for Champion and Runners-up in Quiz, Debate and for best overall performance throughout the competitions were awarded to Institutions.

Other dignitaries present were Swami Achyteshanandaji Maharaj, Swami Tattwavidanandaji Maharaj, Swami Sudarshanandaji Maharaj besides students, parents and teachers.
