SHILLONG: The root cause of unemployment in the state is the unemployable youth who pass out of colleges every year, Commissioner and Secretary K N Kumar said.

Kumar said that the government should set up more job oriented courses so that the problem of unemployment can be solved.

Addressing the Graduation Day’ of Synod College at Dinam Hall here on Saturday, he also informed that 75 percent of the people between the age group of 15 to 29 years in the state are educated but unemployed.

He also informed that Horticulture, Fisheries, Tourism, Information and Technology and Management would be the five largest employers in near future.
