Northampton: Indian bowler Praveen Kumar was involved in an ugly spat with a spectator after Team India’s match against second division county team Northamptonshire.
Kumar allegedly caught a fan by his collar and pulled him out from the crowd after being constantly abused for the Indian team’s bad performance.
The incident happened when the team was about to board their bus for the hotel.
As the team was coming out of the ground, some of the unhappy Indian fans passed comments and most of the banter was in good humour. But it soon turned ugly as Praveen charged out of the team bus with a cricket bat.
Fast bowler Munaf rushed out of the bus and complained to stewards. He also intervened as Kumar again came out of the bus and charged towards fans.
Fans also heckled batsman Virat Kohli, who has come into the squad as a replacement for injured Yuvraj Singh, resulting in the right hand batsman being removed from the boundary. The poor performance by Team India in the practice match after the No. 1 team was thrashed in the first two Tests resulted in fans heckling the players.
Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was also booed by fans on Friday after he got out on 2. (Agencies)
