SHILLONG:The BSF jawans have apprehended three anti-national elements during the last 24 hours along the Indo-Bangladesh international borderon Monday.
BSF sources said here on Tuesday that acting on a tip-off, the BSF troops, deployed at Nongkhen in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, apprehended two Indian nationals along with one car approximately valued at Rs 5,00,000 and 50 bottles of Adorox syrup valued at Rs 2,950 and Rs 3,735 along the border while they were trying to smuggle out cough syrup to Bangladesh.
Another anti-national element was apprehended from Sishumara in Dhubri district of Assam with six cattles worth Rs 40,000 along the border.
The apprehended persons have been handed over to concerned authorities for further action, sources added.
Border Security Force of Assam and Meghalaya Frontier have stepped up vigil and intensified operations on the international border to check illegal activities and other trans-border crimes in view of the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations, sources added.
