Bison’s carcasses recovered
Siliguri: Two bison carcasses were recovered from Neora tea garden under Malbazaar sub-division in Dooars on Wednesday. Malbazar Range Officer Alok Kumar said the pachyderms might have died because of a heart attack. The carcasses were sent for post-mortem, he added. Another of the herd, that drifted from the forest area, was now under medical supervision, he added. (UNI)
Nagaland to review salaries of MLAs
Kohima: Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie, who is also the Chairman of House Committee, has convened a meeting on August 18 in the Committee Room of Assembly Secretariat.
Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretary A E Lotha informed this in a press release here on Wednesday. The meeting will discuss revision of salaries, allowances and other facilities for members and pension for ex-members. (UNI)
Wall painting event held
Itanagar: The Itanagar branch of the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) is organising a two-day wall painting event on global warming at Rajiv Gandhi stadium at Naharlagun as part of its 16th foundation day commemoration.
Fifteen students from Ramakrishna Public School, Green Mount Public School and Kendriya Vidyalaya-II (Chimpu) are participating in the programme to paint the stadium’s wall facing the legislative assembly with paintings related to global warming theme. (PTI)
Nagaland to observe Intl Youth Day
Kohima: For the first time in nagaland, International Youth Day will be celebrated on Friday at the Indoor stadium here.
Music, dance and slogan writing will mark the day. Organiser of the event, ‘The Neo Cirkel’, in a press conference last evening, informed that through its debut event, it aimed to bring the youth together to have fun through music.
Therefore, it extended open invitation to all youth, especially to schools and colleges, to be a part of the celebrations. They said that entry to the venue and for all competitions would be free and that registration for participation would be done at the venue itsef.
International Youth Day (IYD) is an awareness day designated by the United Nations and first observed on August 12, 2000. (UNI)
