Tripura security forces alerted with intelligence input

Agartala: The Tripura administration has alerted the security forces with the information of fresh recruitment in banned militant outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and passing out of its new batch.

Quoting intelligence report, state Home Department officials here today said that as many as 15 surrendered NLFT militants had returned to the outfit in the past one month from Khowai, Longtarai Valley and Kanchanpur sub-divisions.

On the otherhand, about 300 cadres of the outfit had been undergoing training in Bangladesh and Myanmar hideouts who would reportedly be engaged in militant activities in Tripura soon, officials stated. According to a report, the refresh recruited cadres underwent training in Sajek hills and Tawolakantai of Bangladesh and Shan province of Myanmar where about 25 women were also inducted. The report, however, indicated that NLFT had recently procured 350 sophisticated Chinese weapons for resuming violence in the state and added that the outfit had intensified activities mostly in the eastern part of the state along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
