Miscreants pelt stone on SPTS bus, one hurt

SHILLONG: One Harjinia Kharbhih (45) was seriously injured when unidentified miscreants pelted stones at one of the SPTS buses at GS Road near the Harijan Colony on Friday evening.

Kharbhih was injured when the miscreants pelted stones on the bus (ML-01 -6207) which was on its way to Rynjah from Iewduh.

According to the passengers, the stone shattered the rear glass panel of the bus.

Kharbhih was admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital for treatment.

AGM (Operations) of Meghalaya Transport Corporation, Anthony Pariat, said that a complaint had been lodged with the police in this connection.

‘It was almost a 1 kg stone and it damaged the rear wind shield of the bus,” he added.

Superintendent of Police (City) M Kharkrang also said that investigation was on.

On asked whether it was the handiwork of jealous cabbies, the police official said police were investigating into that angle.
