Isak Swu, Muivah to arrive today
KOHIMA: NSCN-IM ‘Chairman’ Isak Chishi Swu and ‘General Secretary’ Thuingaleng Muivah will be arriving here today to discuss ‘important issues’. NSCN-IM ‘Home Minister’ Rh Raising said the visit of the collective leadership was confirmed and it had ‘some important agendas’ to discuss with the Naga people, after which they (Swu and Muivah) would go back to Delhi to resume talks with the Centre.Both the rebel leaders will be briefing the NGOs and Hohos on the latest progress of the ongoing political talks with the Centre.During the stay of the two leaders in Nagaland, the NSCN-IM will organise a platform where all NGOs, Hohos and other civil society organisations would be briefed on the latest position of the Naga issue. KOHIMA:Nagaland governor Nikhil Kumar has summoned the Monsoon Session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly to meet on September 15.In a release, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretary A E Lotha said here on Friday exercising his powers, the governor summoned the tenth session of the eleventh Nagaland Legislative Assembly from September 15.Some government bills, amendments and important documents are likely to be tabled in the session and the business of the session will soon be decided by the Business Committee of the Nagaland Assembly. Arunachal to launch pearl culture project
ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh will launch a pearl or mussel culture pilot project very soon to benefit fish farmers, state Fisheries and Industries Minister Tako Dabi said here on Friday.Dabi’s announcement came after his visit to the integrated fish farm at Midpu yesterday which is owned by a progressive fish farmer Tana Akin Tara. Dabi, who along with senior officers was on tour after the department’s two-day review, was highly impressed with the farming system that incorporated poultry, piggery and paddy-cum-pisciculture. The farm produces 4 metric tonnes of fishes per year. (PTI)
Aid for FRA beneficiaries
AGARTALA:The Tripura Government has initiated a plan to ensure income generation activities for the beneficiaries who were accorded landright (deed) under the Forest Right Act (FRA).Officials here on Friday said that the state government had been pursuing for special assistance for the FRA beneficiaries from the Centre, as the state had registered cent per cent success in the implementation of the Act and so far more than 1.18 lakh forest families were given the deed.”Despite several persuasions, we did not receive any meaningful response from the Centre and it appears to be worthless because the poor dwellers have been given the right to use of land but there was no financial support for using the land,” rued Tribal Welfare Minister Aghore Debbarma.(UNI)
