SHILLONG: A counter FIR was filed on Saturday against David K Nongrum, son of Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope, by president of Seng Samla Shiliang Umkhen (SSSU) JM Wallang for falsely labelling him as a ‘gang leader’ in the FIR filed by Nongrum against him on Thursday.

“This charge is frivolous, malafide and had caused me mental anguish and cast aspersions on my commitment for social justice,” Wallang said in the FIR.

The SSSU president has also alleged that Nongrum had hired under-age boys as labourers at his construction site at MATI, Mawdiangdiang.

“This is in contravention of the provisions of the Prevention of Child Labour Act,” Wallang alleged.
