I-Day alert sounded in West Khasi Hills

 NONGSTOIN: The Superintendent of Police Raja N. Marthandan informed that an alert has been sounded in West Khasi Hills district especially along the Indo-Bangladesh border and sensitive places.

He stated that after reliable input received about the entry of militant groups into Indian soil through the Maheshkhola sector of Indo-Bangla border, deployment of security forces in the sensitive places including Phangdilion area has intensified accordingly.

Maheshkola being located in the vicinity of the border area between South Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills District is infested by militant groups including HNLA and GNLA.

“Security forces are well prepared and capable to meet any type of eventuality in the district” he added.
