Data centre
The Information Technology Department will inaugurate the Meghalaya State Wide Areas Network and Meghalaya State Data Centre at the office premises of the Directorate of Printing Stationery, Secretariat Hill at 11am on Wednesday. Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma will be the Chief Guest accompanied by IT Minister, AL Hek.
Freshers’ meet
The 32nd Annual Freshers’ Social of the Mizo Students’ Union Shillong will be held at U Soso Tham Auditorium from 10.30am onwards on Wednesday. The Liaison Officer based in Shillong, Government of Mizoram, Alexander V Chawngthu will be present as the chief guest.

The 53rd Annual Games & Sports of the Hmar Students’ Association, Joint Headquarters-Shillong will be held at Jingkieng Football Ground, Nongthymai from August 17– 20. The HSA units from different districts of the state will be participating in the annual event..

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will hold the 24th convocation on September 5. Eligible students can collect the form from the IGNOU Regional Centre Shillong.
Released
Four collectors of zakat who were arrested earlier under Section 384 IPC have been released following a meeting of a delegation of the Muslim communty of the state and the Deputy Commissoner and Superintendent of Police having understood the meaning and purpose of zakat.
