Protest in State against Anna’s arrest

 SHILLONG: Supporters of Anna Hazare-led campaign against corruption in Meghalaya distributed pamphlets and took to streets to protest the arrest of the Gandhian and his team members here on Tuesday.

A group of women under aegis of India Against Corruption, Meghalaya Chapter, distributed pamphlets and protested the arrest of Hazare with placards and banners.

Talking to media persons, Agnes Kharshiing, a member of the Meghalaya Chapter of India Against Corruption, said “We support the fight against corruption and Anna Hazare should be released immediately.”

Meanwhile, members of the Art of Living were seen wearing black badges in protest against Hazare’s arrest.

A member of the group said, “We are not getting enough support and people should come out in large numbers to fight against corruption.”

The students, teachers and non-teaching staffs of NEHU also expressed their solidarity with ‘Team Anna’ in their crusade against corruption while condemning the arrest of Hazare and his colleagues.

The Meghalaya People’s Human rights Council (MPHRC) also condemned the arrest of Hazare and his team members.
