6 State karatekas to represent India

 SHILLONG: Six Meghalaya karatekas have been selected to represent India at the Funakoshi Gichin Cup 12th World Karate-Do Championship being under way at Pattaya, Thailand.

The six karatekas are Damang Syngkon, Donboklang Lyngdoh, Sandeep Chanda, Anidahun Mary Warjri, Ester Mary Lyngdoh and Wandashisha Warjri.

It may be mentioned that the World Karate-Do Championship, which began on August 15, will conclude on August 21.

The six karatekas belonging to the All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association (AMKA), Shillong were selected by the Japan Karate-Do Association of India recently.

The selected karatekas were felicitated during a send off function organized recently. The Meghalaya State Olympic Association working president RG Lyngdoh attended the function as the chief guest.

Lyngdoh, members, students of the All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association and parents wished them all success.Meanwhile, the AMKA has expressed gratitude to Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank for extending financial assistance to the selected karatekas.
