SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) will hold a flag meeting on Saturday in connection with the attack on a Khasi villager by three Bangladeshi intruders on Thursday last.
A senior BSF official on Friday said the flag meeting to be held on Saturday will discuss at length the recent attack on the Indian villager by the Bangladeshis.
It is learnt that the BSF officials have already conveyed the matter to the Sector Commandant of BGB over the incident.
A highly-placed BSF official stated that the injured person knew the Bangladeshis and had been involved in bootlegging across the international border. “It might be due to some misunderstanding between them that led to Thursday’s incident,” he added.
“Nevertheless, we have taken all precautions and security has been strengthened to prevent any further incident,” the official added.
The situation along the international border has taken an ugly turn following the death of two Bangladeshi intruders who were allegedly shot dead by angry Khasi villagers on Friday last and another incident on Thursday when one Nikes Khongdup, a resident of Lapalang village under the Hima Khyriem was injured when he was attacked by three Bangladeshis intruders.
