40 killed in UP road accident

BALLIA (UTTAR PRADESH): At least 40 devotees were killed and around 20 injured when the tractor-trolley carrying them overturned and fell into a deep roadside ditch in a rural area here Monday, an official said.

The accident took place in Nagla area of Ballia, some 300 km from Lucknow, when the group was on its way to a temple.

“We are yet to ascertain the exact cause behind the accident.

Rescue operations are under way,” District Magistrate Madhukar Dwivedi said.

“The injured are being rushed to the district hospital,” he added.(IANS)
