 GUWAHATI: Groups of supporters of Anna Hazare on Monday staged peaceful demonstration outside the rented house of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh here shouting slogans calling for immediate introduction and adoption of Jan Lokpal Bill.

Anna supporters also staged similar demonstration in front of the city residence of Guwahati parliamentary constituency MP and BJP’s national vice-president Bijoya Chakraborty.

Over 200 odd supporters Hazare gathered outside the PM’s rented at Sarumotoria in the city at around 1pm amid tight security arrangement by the administration. The demonstrators dispersed after staging peaceful dharna for about an hour. Another group of demonstrators stage demonstration in the venue late in the evening.

Dr Singh, who is a Rajya Sabha MP from Assam, has a rented house in his name at Sarumotoriya, a locality in just in front of Assam’s capital complex at Dispur in the city. He has been Singh has been holding this house since 1991, when he was first elected to the Rajya Sabha. The house is owned by Dr Hemoprabha Saikia, widow of former Assam chief minister Late Hiteswar Saikia.
