Kohima: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has criticized the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN)’s policy and decisions on various issues, citing ultimatums served to the latter by various NGOs recently.

A release issued by NPCC Media Cell said the government had been in ‘a spell of wrong decisions and indecisions’ on different issues, indicating that it had no will and courage to take hard political decisions.

It said the game of ‘buying time with false promises’ was over as organisations were threatening the government with their own course of action.

The NPCC has tagged the DAN Government as an ‘abeyance government’, pointing out that the latter had the habit of keeping issues in abeyance to buy time.

While stating that such steps were ‘indicative’ of a collapsed government machinery, the opposition Congress also observed that recent developments and events were not unexpected. NPCC also listed different organisations and issues that the government was faced with, stating if the organisations meant what they said, the government would be brought ‘to its knees’.

Lashing out at the government for failing to implement 33 per cent reservation for women in municipalities despite a Bill being passed in the Assembly, the party said the government’s reluctance had forced Naga women to resort to legal recourse.

On DAN Cabinet’s recommendation of Autonomous Council, the Congress said the decision was ‘politely but firmly rejected’ by the ENPO. It stated that no attempt was made to negotiate with the ENPO and they might not have been taken into confidence before recommending the Autonomous Council. While alleging that several court cases on corruption charges were pending against the government, the NPCC stated that the above mentioned circumstances pointed that the government was now ‘entangled in its own web of wrong doings’.
